Llanberis Film Festival 2016

ZAAZEE supports LLAMFF in Snowdonia

ZAAZEE was thrilled to sponsor part of the recent Llanberis Mountain Film Festival (LLAMFF) in Snowdonia last weekend (5th March). The LLAMFF festival is a charity, organised by volunteers from the north wales community. Events during the festival raised funds for Climber's Against Cancer (CAC), a worldwide climbing community aiming to increase awareness and raise funds to fight this terrible disease.

The fundraiser was brought to our attention by ‘Womenclimb’ founder and editor in chief Emily Pitts, who we met in Manchester last summer. ZAAZEE has a strong following of passionate climbers, so we were excited to get involved and bring the brand to Wales.

ZAAZEE attended “We Do Adventure” event in the evening, the BMC Womenclimb Women in Adventure Film Competition. The event showcased the 17 films submitted for the competition including the People's Choice Award winner Girlie & Burly. Many of the cast and film makers were in the audience and it was fantastic to see the inspiring films made by women across the country back to back.

The films featured inspiring women who were fell running, climbing, walking and other extreme sports which were all extremely motivating and exhilarating. It was fantastic and there was a real buzz in the room. It was great to meet and chat to many of the stars!

Inspired

After watching all the inspirational films at the base of Snowdon, there was no way we could leave Llanberis without climbing the snow covered summit. Luckily,  we had packed our walking boots, some key winter gear and as the kids were with my parents - there were no excuses! We might not have been 100% fully prepared or equipped for the challenge, but it looked amazing covered with snow. We chose the Llanberis path, the views were breathtaking and magnificent with all the snow. The summit was cold, about -12, a fierce wind and poor visibility that day, but it felt remarkable. We completed the journey there and back in 4 hours, not bad for a pair of novices. It was incredible and I'd fully encourage people to try it. When it was hard going, we were motivated and encouraged by the films from the night before.

We are honoured to have been involved in the Film Festival. We hope we might be able to encourage some of our amazing ZAAZEE friends & customers to get involved in next year's festival, maybe even submitting something ourselves. Check out the link below and we'll aim to see you again next year.

See below a recent review from fellow outdoor enthusiast Emma Timmis, winner of the 2015 Physical Endeavour award at the National Adventure Awards 2015.

"I love being in the outdoors and I especially love rock climbing. Having well fitted, quality clothing is really important when you're trying to concentrate on making a crucial move on a climb. You don’t want to be worrying about your clothes restricting you, or rubbing, when every small move is important," said Emma.

"I wear the Abi bra and Ella vest top.  Both are very supportive for climbing either worn together or separately. The Ella is made of a fabric that's soft and smooth against your skin. It moves in sync with your body like a second skin. It's super quick drying so when you've been working hard on a climb you aren't left feeling sweaty and cold. I always get comments from other climbers about how unique and stylish the back shape is.

The Abi bra is my favourite sports bra to climb in. The shape allows for lots of movement and I never have to adjust it, it stays in place and does its job. The material feels really high quality and stretches more than expected without losing any support."
