The benefits of yoga and making it part of your fitness lifestyle

It’s a new year so it’s time for a new ZAAZEE blog! We caught up with VIDA Yoga owner Marley Hague, a 200HR YTTC qualified yoga instructor offering group classes, private 1-1 sessions, corporate yoga and yoga parties in Manchester. Take it away Marley!

What is VIDA yoga?

VIDA YOGA is the brand name for the yoga services I offer. Vida is my middle name but it also means ‘life’ in Spanish which I like and thought it fit well with my approach and philosophy with yoga.

Benefits of yoga

A lot of people come to yoga initially either to help rehabilitate them after injury or purely for the physical benefits (weight loss, strength etc) but there is so much more to it.

Once you get more in to it you’ll start to benefit from the mental (and hopefully spiritual) sides of it too. It teaches you to focus your energy, clear your mind and deal with life in a totally different way.

It’s personally got me through some very difficult times in my life. And of course I’m not going to over look the physical benefits which are also great, as a woman it really helps to tone your entire body as well as build strength without that ‘bulky’ weight lifting look. It can help relieve symptoms of your menstrual cycle, and even dealing with having children pre and post natal.

Key points

  • Stress relief
  • Keep fit and healthy
  • Give yourself some ‘me time’

Yoga is great for fitting in to a busy lifestyle because you can do it anywhere…all you need is a mat. You can do a quick 15-20 min practice as the baby takes a nap, or even incorporate your kids in to your practice.

I’ve found that kids love to get involved and it’s really easy to teach them the basic poses, make it something that you do together…start them early!

Cheat food

I have the biggest sweet tooth so I am a sucker for a vegan cake or brownie!

Flattering tips for ZAAZEE customers?

The best thing you can do is love yourself, accept your flaws, appreciate your good bits and be confident.

Best attire?

There’s no rules, but bear in mind that you don’t want to restrict your body from movement. I will usually wear some leggings and a top (lose or fitted), if I’m going to hot yoga though I’ll stick to just leggings and a bra top

Most satisfying part of my job?

Seeing people come out of savasana in whole different place, physically and mentally from when they enter my class.

Thank you Marley,
